OSHA OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURES TO
HAZARDOUS CHEMICALS IN LABORATORIES
(8 Hours)
AGENDA
PURPOSE: OSHA requires that workers in laboratories be familiar with the potential
chemical hazards which are present in the laboratory. OSHA holds laboratory workers to a
higher level of performance in terms of understanding these hazards than for equivalent
workers under the Hazard Communication Standard. This seminar is in two parts. The morning
session is devoted to understanding the Laboratory Standard, and learning innovative
methods for compliance. The morning session is aimed primarily at Chemical Hygiene
Officers, Safety Professionals, and others who have responsibility to assure compliance
with the Standard. The afternoon session is devoted to explaining the basic concepts of
chemical safety. This session is aimed at the same employees who attended the morning
session, plus anyone who handles chemicals in laboratories. The afternoon session is a
highly abbreviated version of ACSafety's Chemical Safety Seminar.
